Morning Routine Day 2
I wanted to share more of my new devotional rhythm- a practice of doing and being intentionally beyond just a short little clip I posted yesterday
Lately, I’ve been feeling a strong sacral pull toward the morning. Toward the sun and toward a new discipline.
There was a part of me that wanted to wake early and a part that didn’t want anything to do with that. This is a hard place to be because sometimes we want to change something or do something and yet we start and can’t continue or can’t even start. I was in this spot for about a week.
Then I was reminded of a teaching from The Fourth Way-
Once you see this and live it, it becomes easier to recognize. A week to sit in my fragmented self before making change? Not bad, not bad.
Sometimes one “I” wants to wake up early, and another “I” doesn’t. This inner conflict, this pulling from different parts of us, is often what causes our routines to collapse. A deeper teaching here is in learning to observe these parts- not reject or shame them but begin to combine the I’s, to bring them under the gaze of awareness. Even just noticing this pattern is a key to shifting it. Not one built on pressure or performance but the kind of discipline that brings alignment, integrity, and energy.
Usually when I want change I go to one of the many chart systems I study. This time I’ve been diving back into Vedic astrology.
In reflecting on my Vedic chart over the last week, I’ve learned that discipline is key to transformation for me. When I look back at past seasons of focus and commitment, they’ve always been tied to clear structures and goals- especially financial ones. And they worked, because I had a system and I combined “I”s within for that one aim.
This is how to use systems- allow them to flow through. learn something, feel something, and then I place it against my own experience to see if it lives there. That’s my kind of integrity.
So this morning practice is both a routine and an experiment. A way to meet the sun, build consistency, and see how discipline aligned with energy can shift something deeper in me.
My Morning Routine (So Far)
Listening to and chanting the Gayatri Mantra- right now I’m learning it, so I have one earbud in, listening to a video, and reading the Sanskrit on screen as I go. The Gayatri Mantra is a Vedic chant to the sun and divine light, used to clear the mind and open higher awareness. It’s said to bring purification, guidance, and increased life force. (Click here to learn the chant)
4 rounds of Sun Salutations- this is my second day, and my body is definitely feeling it. I was so sore this morning, but I still showed up.
10 minutes of conscious breath/contemplation- I’m still shaping this part. My plan is to sit around the same time every day for 40 days. A Vedic astrologer I follow shared that even for him, interruptions often end the streak. That made me think…
Can I hold the breath through an interruption? Can I recognize I am the breath, even if my day doesn’t go as planned?
Teachings that also crossed my mind:
Chronos and Kairos time- Am I ruled by the clock, or can I meet time from the sacred? Even if something is rescheduled or chaotic, could I still give myself 10 minutes with breath and presence? (Click here for my video explaining a bit about time in this way)
Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way teaching- This whole routine is becoming my living experiment in this idea. Can I maintain intention, or will it slip away when life moves? Can I be with what is and still return to myself?
A Few Highlights from My Vedic Chart
I actually have our whole families charts, well besides our newest addition. My husband and I met with our in house Vedic astrologer at the school where I studied Shamanism, about 10 years ago. It’s so fun to see how information that I listened to all those years ago is flowing through me differently. Apparently I’m ready to take in all the sun’s energy and have new discipline.
My current routine is directly tied to key placements in my chart:
My 9th lord is in the 2nd house with the sun, which lights up themes of daily structure, purpose, voice, and rooted clarity.
The sun is a major source of vitality for me. Waking with it, connecting to it, and honoring it fuels my whole system. (We are machines after all IYKYK LOL)
Discipline, breath, and routine are not just good ideas- they’re my path to transformation.
I may update throughout the 40 days to share what unfolds, how it shifts, and what doesn’t work too.
Thanks for coming along with me- not just through this routine, but through the ins and outs of my brain and process:)
Although I don’t currently offer Vedic astrology readings (maybe in the future 😉), you’re always welcome to begin with a Destiny Card or Human Design + Gene Keys session.
It’s a beautiful starting place if you’re looking for individual guidance, a reflection back to you, or a deeper exploration of the dynamic between you and your child- or even a full family constellation.
With love,
Krystal XO
